    This website attracts a lot traffic from people interested in Japan, Japanese culture or learning the Japanese language. It plays a central part in the growing community of Japan bloggers at and I aim to present all the content on this website in as balanced and ethical way as possible. I will not endorse advertisements that I deem to be irresponsible or of dubious nature. Any questions at all, just drop me a line!     Pricing and Sizes

    Note: All advertisements should fit the theme of the site. They will usually be square in size, of relevant content and must look pretty. See ‘Terms and Conditions‘ at the bottom of this page for more information.

    Top Box

    –Appears on all pages with a sidebar below the Gakuranman image and ‘Welcome’ box.

  • Size: 300px wide by 300px high
  • Price: 2000 yen / $20 a week, or 6000 yen / $60 a month.
  • Advantages: This advertisement appears at the top, above the fold of all pages with a sidebar. The prime location will guarantee that readers who visit the site see your advertisement. The square ad should be 20px rounded corners to fir the theme of the site.

    • Normal Box

    –Appears in the middle of all pages with a sidebar.

  • Size: 125px wide by 125px high
  • Price: 600 yen / $6 a week, or 2000 yen / $20 a month.
  • Advantages: This advertisement appears as one of 6 boxes in the upper-middle of the sidebar. It is on a rotating basis with the other ads in this position, meaning it changes position but is always visible. Easily seen by readers scrolling down the page to read articles.

    • Content Banner

    –Appears inside a new post, at the footer above the meta information

  • Size: 550px wide by 150px high
  • Price: 2000 yen / $20 per quality post
  • Advantages: A one-time only advertisement that is featured at the bottom of the next ‘quality’ post. By ‘quality’ post I mean articles that are significantly longer or require more thought and research than usual, and which usually encourage conversation and higher viewing numbers.


    • Terms and Conditions

    1) All advertisements must fit the theme of the site. They should be at the correct size and must look pretty. Try not to make it look like an ad in the traditional sense – let it breathe and be fun. If you are having trouble designing it, I can advise or help you to make it more attractive at a small extra cost.

    2) All advertisements must be of relevant and useful content. I may also refuse any advertisement that I think is unsuitable. This usually means anything with 18+ content or things that may offend readers.

    3) No moving gifs or flash video files and absolutely no sound please. (Most internet-users hate that sort of stuff!)

    4) Pricing is subject to change. I will give one week’s notice in such case, or to the end of the current agreed contract.

    5) Maximum contract is one month, but can be renewed.

    6) Prices are shown in both American dollars and Japanese yen for convenience but are subject to the current exchange rate and may vary slightly. Please contact me for an exact figure.

    7) ‘All pages with a sidebar’ means pretty much all pages on this website. The only exceptions are special pages like the search page or when I post large photo spreads which take up the entire width of the site and do not include the sidebar (here’s an example). There will be no more than one photo spread post per calendar month and the sidebar is always visible on the front page of the site, so you can rest assured that your advertisement will get maximum exposure.
